Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of katije.com and shop.katije.com ("the site"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

These terms are between you and Katije Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17205977), with registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA. References to "we", "us", and "our" mean Katije Ltd.

Use of the site

You may use this site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • Use the site in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, or any connected systems
  • Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or extract content from the site without our written permission
  • Reproduce, redistribute, or republish site content (including blog posts, images, and product descriptions) without our written permission

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the site at our discretion.

Eligibility to purchase

To purchase products from us, you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under UK law. By placing an order, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

Waitlist

Joining the Katije waitlist is free and does not obligate you to purchase anything. By joining, you consent to receiving email communications from us about product updates and launches. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or by contacting support@katije.com.

Being on the waitlist does not guarantee availability of any product at any particular price.

SMS marketing

If you have opted in to receive SMS marketing, you agree to the following:

  • We will send up to 4 marketing messages per month from the sender "Katije"
  • Messages may include launches, restocks, and updates on new attachments
  • Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply
  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message
  • You can request help by replying HELP to any message, or by emailing support@katije.com

Your phone number is processed by our SMS marketing provider Klaviyo. For details on data processing, see our Privacy Policy.

By providing your phone number through any opt-in mechanism on our site, you confirm that the number is yours and you have authority to consent to receive marketing texts at that number.

Products and orders

When our shop launches, the following terms will apply to purchases:

Pricing. All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to change prices at any time. The price at the time you place your order is the price you pay.

Payment. Payment is taken at the time of purchase through Shopify Payments. We accept major credit and debit cards.

Shipping. We currently ship within the United Kingdom only. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times will be displayed at checkout. We are not responsible for delays caused by the shipping carrier once your order has been dispatched.

Order confirmation. After placing an order, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt. A binding contract is formed when we send you a separate dispatch confirmation. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order before dispatch, for example in the case of obvious pricing errors or stock unavailability, in which case we will refund any payment taken.

Pre-orders

For pre-order purchases, the following additional terms apply:

  • Estimated dispatch dates are good-faith estimates based on our production schedule. Actual dispatch may be earlier or later than the date stated at the time of pre-order.
  • If we are unable to fulfil your pre-order within 30 days of the original estimated dispatch date, you have the right to cancel and receive a full refund.
  • Where a deposit is taken rather than full payment, the balance is due before dispatch and you will be notified by email when the balance is required.
  • Pre-order customers retain all the statutory rights described below, including the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Your statutory cancellation right

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, for any reason. You do not need to give us a reason.

To exercise this right, contact us at support@katije.com within 14 days of receiving your order. You must then return the goods to us within 14 days of telling us you wish to cancel. We will refund the price you paid for the goods, plus our standard delivery charges, within 14 days of receiving the returned goods back. Return shipping costs in the case of cancellation are your responsibility unless the product was faulty, damaged, or not as described.

This statutory right is in addition to, and does not replace, our 30-day satisfaction guarantee described below.

30-day satisfaction guarantee

Beyond your statutory rights, we offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you're not completely satisfied, you can return your order within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. No hidden fees, no restocking charges.

To start a return, email support@katije.com. Returned items must be in a reasonable condition with original packaging. We will issue a full refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving the returned item.

For change-of-mind returns under either this guarantee or your statutory right, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs. If you receive a faulty or damaged product, contact us at support@katije.com and we will cover return shipping and arrange a replacement or full refund.

Your statutory rights for faulty goods

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all goods we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If a product is faulty, you have the right to:

  • A full refund within 30 days of delivery (short-term right to reject)
  • A repair or replacement after 30 days
  • A partial or full refund if repair or replacement is not possible

If a fault becomes apparent within six months of delivery, it is presumed to have existed at the time of delivery unless we can prove otherwise. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

1-year limited warranty

In addition to your statutory rights, all Chaser wands (the walnut handle and fiberglass rod) are covered by a 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal supervised use. If the rod or handle fails within one year of delivery, email support@katije.com with a photo and we will send you a replacement.

This warranty does not cover attachments (feathers are consumable and wear out naturally with use), cords and clips (which are replaceable), or damage from misuse, chewing, or unsupervised play. Normal cosmetic wear on the walnut handle (patina, minor surface marks) is expected and not a defect. This warranty does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Product safety

Our products are designed for supervised interactive play between cats and their owners. They are not chew toys and should not be left with your cat unsupervised. Inspect the product regularly for signs of wear or damage. Discontinue use if any component becomes damaged, loose, or detached. Subject to your statutory rights, Katije Ltd is not liable for injury or damage resulting from unsupervised use or use contrary to product guidance.

Keep all product components out of reach of children.

Intellectual property

All content on this site, including text, images, logos, the Katije name, product names (including The Chaser, The Wren, The Cradle), and design elements, is owned by Katije Ltd or licensed to us. You may not use, copy, or reproduce any of it without our written permission.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Katije Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or our products. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to your purchase will not exceed the price you paid for the relevant product.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law

Events beyond our control

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these terms where such failure or delay is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, civil unrest, government action, fire, flood, pandemic, supplier failure, transport disruption, or industrial action. Where such events affect a pre-order or dispatched order, we will keep you informed and offer cancellation with a full refund where appropriate.

Third-party links

Our site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland may bring proceedings in their local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. For purchases, the terms in effect at the time of your order apply to that order.
